The Ipakodo Development Association (IDA) recently concluded the Ipakodo Day celebration 2024, with the grand finale program held on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at the Ipakodo Ferry Terminal, Ikorodu-west, Lagos State, Nigeria. The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, both local and international, who contributed to the growth and development of the Sekunmade palace and Ikorodu-west at large.
Notable dignitaries in attendance included the Sekunmade of the Ipakodo kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa; the Ayangburen of Ikorodu kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the paramount ruler of the Ikorodu division; His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo kingdom; His Royal Majesty, Hrm. Oba Olukayode David Raji, Olugbade II, the Eweye Of Isiwu; Aremo Adeniyi Ogunsanya, the head of Oguntade Royal family of Rademo ruling house; High Chief Odofin (SAN) Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Chairman of Multichoice Nigeria and the Odofin Erujeje of Ikorodu Kingdom; Lagos-East Senatorial District Legislator, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru; Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Mhr, Member Federal House of Representatives, Representing Ikorodu Federal constituency ably represented by Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola, the Director General, iCare Foundation and the Executive Assistant to His Excellency Governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu on Lagos State Parking Authority; Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA; Builder Olusesan Mayokun Daini, Chairman Igbogbo-baiyeku LCDA and others. Their presence demonstrated widespread support towards the growth and development of Ikorodu-west LCDA.
During a public address, High Chief Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, pledged to demolish and rebuild a new Sekunmade palace to further the development and growth of Ikorodu-west. He stated, “We will build a new Sekunmade palace for His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa and the construction will commence this month (October), within a week.”
This commitment was reinforced by Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, the Otunba Fuwagbuyi of Ikorodu Kingdom.
Additionally, an award was posthumously presented to Prince Tajudeen Odofin, the pioneer of the TAO Foundation, in recognition of his selfless service to humanity.
The Chairman of the Ipakodo Development Association, Prince Olasunkanmi Aremu Sotonwa, and his media publicity, Peju Akinyemi, along with the Chiefs and Baales of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa expressed their gratitude to High Chief Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, Odofin Erujeje of Ikorodu Kingdom, and associates for the commitment to the new Sekunmade palace, which is expected to commence within the next five days.
The event also saw the participation of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO), Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, and Builder Olusesan Daini Mayokun, the Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, as well as councillors and political members, who demonstrated their support and representation.
