In a gesture of gratitude towards the leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the Ikorodu division, as well as to congratulate the newly elected chairpersons on their first 100 days in office, Dr. Adéọlá Adébisi Banjọ, the former Chairman of Ikorodu-North LCDA, conducted official courtesy visits with his team on Monday, November 10, 2025.
During these visits, Dr. Banjọ reached out to several council chairpersons in the Ikorodu division, including the Hon. Prince Abdulateef Adedayo Abayomi Ladega, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LGA; the Hon. Prince Hammed Olamilekan Aroyewun of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA; the Hon. Benson Sunday Adeyemi Ayodele of Imota LCDA; and the Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile of Ikorodu-North LCDA.
Dr. Banjọ congratulated them on their recent electoral victories and acknowledged their accomplishments during their first 100 days in office by presenting framed certificates inscribed with the words, “TOWARDS A LEGACY OF PEACE, PROSPERITY, AND HOPE FOR ALL” and “A PRAYER FROM BANJO.”
Here is the speech delivered by Dr. Adéọlá Adébisi Banjọ:
“It brings me great joy and profound gratitude to stand before you today as we celebrate not only a leader elected by the people but one who has already begun to demonstrate their trust in him. Mr. Chairman, I congratulate you on your electoral victory and on the successful completion of your first hundred days in office. These initial days have eloquently highlighted your dedication, humility, and vision. You have shown that leadership is not merely about position but about purpose, and that power holds its true meaning only when it is wielded to uplift others.
Your election signified the will of the people, and your early service has revealed the strength of your character. In a short time, you have laid foundations that inspire confidence and rekindle hope. You have reminded us that progress begins not with noise but with quiet, consistent action. The people who chose you did not merely seek a leader; they sought a heart that listens, hands that build, and a mind that envisions a better tomorrow.
My dear Chairman, leadership is not a crown to wear but a cross to bear. It is not defined by how many follow you but by how many rise because of you. True leadership finds its measure in the silence of responsibility, in times when choices are tough and praise is scarce. Yet, it is in those moments that a leader’s greatness begins to shine through.
Every step you take now must be guided by service, compassion, and justice. When you build a road, make it a path of unity. When you empower a youth, see it as an investment in their future. When you assist a mother, recognise that you are touching the heart of a nation. These are the quiet miracles of public service that endure long after the applause has faded.
As you continue on this journey, may wisdom be your constant companion, and peace your portion. May every decision you make strengthen the bond between you and the people you serve. May your hands never tire from doing good, and may your name become synonymous with fairness, vision, and grace.
Thus, as I present this frame titled “Towards a Legacy of Peace, Prosperity, and Hope for All,” may it serve as a reminder that leadership is not a moment of glory, but a lifelong commitment. Nurture your leadership like a seed, water it with love and honesty, and it will flourish into a legacy that history will forever acknowledge.
Congratulations once again, Mr. Chairman. May your leadership shine as a guiding light to your people, a blessing to your land, and a legacy that inspires generations to come.
Thank you, and may God bless you always.”
In response to Dr. Banjọ’s speech, Hon. Prince Abdulateef Adedayo Abayomi Ladega, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area, warmly welcomed and appreciated Dr. Banjọ and his team.
Hon. Prince Hammed Olamilekan Aroyewun (HOA) of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA also expressed his gratitude by acknowledging God’s grace in Dr. Banjọ’s life. He noted that not all former chairpersons have the opportunity to engage with people after leaving office. Reflecting on his own experience, he stated, “I have encountered various individuals who previously did not want to see me, now coming to my office to associate with me. So, I have placed a reminder in my office for the day I will leave.”
Hon. Aroyewun also commended Dr. Banjọ for maintaining a strong relationship with three prominent APC political leaders across the Ikorodu division: His Excellency Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, and Senator Adeseye Ogunleye, members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC). “It is commendable to still have such distinguished followership around you, and I am genuinely happy for you,” said Hon. Hammed Olamilekan Aroyewun, popularly known as H.O.A.
In reference to Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, the representative for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, he shared a statement during Dr. Banjọ’s visit.
Speaking during a recent event, Hon. Hammed Olamilekan Aroyewun, the Executive Council Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, commended Dr. Banjo for maintaining strong relationships with three prominent leaders of the APC political party in the Ikorodu division: His Excellency Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, and Senator Adeseye Ogunleye, all members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC). He expressed his happiness for Dr. Banjo, saying, “For you to still have this calibre of followership, I am indeed very happy for you.”
Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, also spoke highly of Dr. Banjo during his visit to the constituency. Rep. Benson remarked, “Even though we were not on the same page in the recent 2025 local government election, Dr. Banjo still extended the hand of fellowship and friendship. That demonstrates your ability to let go of the past and rebuild friendships.”
He emphasised, “You are a leader and a father. It is your responsibility to embrace all young politicians.” He added, “This is very important because we will still come to you for guidance. I am proud to identify myself as your mentee due to the positive support you have shown us in the past and the fact that you have never discouraged me.” Dr. Banjo is known for saying, “It is possible.” Hon. Aroyewun responded by expressing his gratitude, saying, “I appreciate you for coming; I feel so honoured. I also thank Dr. Banjo’s supporters for their genuine loyalty. Whatever we do today will always impact our future because life is cyclical. Thank you for being here, and God bless you all.”
In a courtesy visit to the office of Hon. Benson Sunday Adeyemi (BSA), the Executive Council Chairman of Imota LCDA, he began by praising God for Dr. Banjo’s life through Gospel songs, stating, “It is important to start by appreciating God, who is the owner of heaven and earth.” He testified that it is only God who crowns endeavours with success.
Reflecting on how Dr. Banjo assisted him nearly two decades ago during the 2017 APC political campaign, Hon. BSA recounted, “Dr. Banjo asked me for my bank account number, and to my surprise, I received support that I never expected. He said, ‘In your time of need, God will provide for you!’” Hon. BSA expressed heartfelt gratitude and acknowledged God for Dr. Banjo’s life.
Hon. BSA also extended his sincere appreciation to his dedicated team, including Vice Chairperson Hon. (Princess) Abisoye Jimoh Oredoyin, the Council Manager, the Council Treasurer, the management team, the APC LGA Party Chairman, Ward Chairman, Zone Chairman, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro, as well as their families and other key stakeholders.
Dr. Banjo remains active with the Party, even after leaving office, demonstrating that “it is always good to be good.” Hon. BSA warmly welcomed Dr. Banjo and his team, particularly appreciating a framed gift presentation titled “Towards a Legacy of Peace, Prosperity, and Hope for All.” He stated, “I will study it when I get home to find some motivating words for my personal use.”
Lastly, Hon. BSA sought Dr. Banjo’s professional advice regarding the technical aspects of government operations. He urged that whatever happened in the past should be put aside and called for unity to promote their beloved ruling political party in Lagos State and Nigeria as they prepare for the 2027 general election. “Together we can find solutions and move forward,” said Hon. BSA.
In conclusion, during the presentation of the framed gift titled “A Prayer from Banjo” in the office of Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile, the Council Chairman of Ikorodu-North LCDA, Dr. Banjo delivered an inspiring speech:
My dear brother, my friend, and now our Chairman,
As I stand here today, my heart is filled with gratitude and pride. I look at you, once my deputy and now the leader of our people, and I see how faith, humility, and grace can turn loyalty into destiny. Your emergence is not only the triumph of the people’s choice but also a testimony that patience, character, and service never go unrewarded. I thank God who has lifted you and given our community a man who already understands its heartbeat.
I remember the journey we shared. The long meetings, the early mornings, the laughter, and even the difficult moments that shaped our strength. You were never just a deputy. You were a partner in service, a steady voice of reason, and a friend who carried responsibility with quiet courage. Working with you taught me that leadership is not about position or power but about purpose and people.
Your election is a story of grace and growth. It reminds everyone that those who serve faithfully in the shadows are often prepared for the light. You have stepped into this new office with experience, humility, and a heart ready to serve. I believe the same dedication that supported me will now sustain you, and the same wisdom that guided you before will now lead you to even greater heights.
As I hand over this responsibility, I do so with peace and confidence. The foundation we built together will stand firm because it is now in the hands that understand it. You know the people, their struggles, their dreams, and their hopes. You are not new to their pain, and you are not a stranger to their prayers. You have worked beside me, and now you are ready to build beyond me.
My brother, leadership will stretch your strength and test your patience, but never let it steal your compassion. Listen deeply to your people and serve them with sincerity. Do not lead with pride but with purpose. The true proof of good leadership is not in words, but in the quiet changes that bring peace and progress to the people you serve.
And so, as I present this frame titled “A Prayer from Banjọ,” I do so not just as a predecessor, but as a brother passing a torch to another. May it remind you that leadership is not an inheritance but a trust. It is not a reward but a call to serve. Let this frame remind you daily that peace must be protected, prosperity must be pursued, and hope must be renewed.
I leave you with my blessings and my prayers. May God give you wisdom to govern with understanding, strength to endure with grace, and compassion to serve with love. May your years in office bring progress to our land, harmony to our people, and pride to your name.
Congratulations, my brother and my friend. Lead with love, serve with honour, and may God bless your every step.
Thank you.
In response to this, Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile emphasised that patience and understanding toward leaders are essential. He assured Dr. Banjo that he would be available to listen whenever Dr. Banjo calls upon him, citing their past collaboration and shared experiences.
Hon. Apanisile expressed his gratitude and welcomed Dr. Banjo and his team for their visit, stating, “If the love were not there, you wouldn’t have come here.” He reiterated that the Ikorodu-North LCDA is united, a sentiment he hopes will continue. He assured the good people of Ikorodu-North LCDA that his administration is working tirelessly to ensure the area continues to progress while embracing sustainable development.
He mentioned that he has learned a great deal from Dr Banjo and noted the significant development in Ikorodu-North LCDA, which stems from a strategic plan he has adopted based on Dr. Banjo’s guidance.
In conclusion, Hon. Apanisile highlighted his accomplishments during his first 100 days in office. “My team and I are actively working together to achieve better progressive development in Ikorodu-North.”
