The Ikorodu Ọgá Development Association (IKODASS) has organized the 33rd edition of the Ikorodu-Oga Festival, referred to as “Woro Day,” which took place today, Saturday, November 9th, 2024. The primary objective of this event is to promote Ikorodu cultural heritage, raise awareness for the ongoing 2024 Ikorodu-Oga Celebration and to promote peaceful coexistence within the communities.
The festivities commenced with a formal rally, which began at the Ikodass office across Ikorodu central and proceeded to the Ayangbure palace to celebrate with His Royal Majesty, HRM Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, showcased ancestors’ displays and rejoiced together as one lovely family.
Additionally, the festival aims to enhance commerce and industry in Ikorodu, providing a platform for cultural exchange and community engagement.
Attendees, comprising indigenes, residents, and visitors had the honour of celebrating in the presence of His Royal Majesty, HRM Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, Adegorunshen V, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom. The event also featured Olori Abosede Shotobi, along with High Chiefs, Baales, Erelus, Olosugbos, and local dignitaries, including aspirants aspiring for chairmanship and councilorship positions within the Ikorodu Local Government Area.
This year’s Ikorodu-Oga Celebration signifies a noteworthy enhancement of traditional practices, effectively transforming prior negative perceptions into a constructive narrative. The event underscores the cultural richness, unity, and progress of the Ikorodu community, thereby fostering a spirit of collaboration and celebration among all stakeholders involved.
