The Lagos State Health Scheme District II, led by Permanent Secretary Dr. Dayo Olaide, held a significant meeting with community stakeholders and religious leaders at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024. The gathering focused on the theme “Improving Primary Healthcare Facility Utilisation” and coincided with the observance of World AIDS Day.

Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS) aims to promote Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in the state. This means that residents of Lagos State should have access to quality healthcare services regardless of their socio-economic status.

The primary objective of the meeting was to engage the community in discussions about enhancing primary healthcare centres in the Ikorodu area. Health District II, which oversees healthcare services in Shomolu, Kosofe, and Ikorodu Local Government Areas, aims to deliver high-quality health services to its residents. During the interactive session, attendees praised the Lagos State Government for its commitment to public health.

They emphasized the need for soft loan programs to empower community leaders at the grassroots level, stressing that financial support is essential for strengthening local healthcare initiatives.

Dr. Said Tajudeen, the Director of Planning, Research & Statistics, highlighted the positive contributions of local government leaders, particularly praising Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina and other Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmen for their roles in the construction and renovation of primary healthcare centres. He noted that these efforts have significantly enhanced access to healthcare and contributed to the improvement of services available to the community.
