By Araba, Olawale Enifenilanfe:

Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, the elected legislator for the Lagos East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions has distributed over ten (10) food packs to the families in need, demonstrating a dedication to mitigating hunger and supporting vulnerable populations of Lagos East today, Monday, December 16th, 2024, at the Ikorodu Constituency’s office, opposite the abattoir, T.O.S Benson Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

The food packs were distributed across the constituencies of Ikorodu, Kosofe, Epe, Somolu, and Ibeju-Lekki, targeting vulnerable populations, including widows, unemployed youths, and individuals with disabilities without being partisan. The beneficiaries were selected through an impartial process via an online registration portal.
In his address, Senator Abiru assured the people of Ibeju-Lekki LGA that the construction of the Sail Innovation Lab is nearing completion and will be inaugurated shortly.

He encouraged Lagos East Senatorial District residents to exercise patience and resilience, underscoring the significance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tax reforms as a critical component of the nation’s economic revitalization. Senator Abiru emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration is laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth, which is expected to enhance government revenues while benefiting lower-income groups. The reforms to the Value Added Tax (VAT) will exempt essential services, thereby stimulating investment and job creation across various sectors.
He highlighted that patience and perseverance are essential for achieving both personal and professional objectives.
Senator Abiru expressed his appreciation to the Planning Committee for their effective coordination of the programme, particularly acknowledging Dr. (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, a Permanent Board Member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), along with the executive members of the committee.

During the event, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, the Chairman of the APC in Lagos State, commended Senator Abiru for embodying the principles of the ruling party and for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development.

He urged the residents to actively engage in the re-registration process for Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) and to ensure that their National Identification Number (NIN) is active, thereby enhancing their voting power in the forthcoming local government and general elections.

Furthermore, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye (JP), an elder statesman, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), praised Senator Abiru for his competency and notable contributions to societal welfare. He encouraged everyone to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that positive developments are forthcoming, and extended his gratitude to all participants for their attendance.
