The Lagos State Government Community Development Committee (CDC), Ikorodu Local Government Chapter under the administration of Elder Yekini Ogunjimi, CDC Chairman alongside the Head of Department (HOD) Agric and Social Services, Mr Ajiboye Olufemi in partnership with the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina ably represented by Supervisor for Agric, Hon. Musibau Alejo, has held their 2024 annual general meeting today, Tuesday, December 17th, 2024 at Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat Hall, T.O.S Benson Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria with honourary awards of competency to the Six (6) effective CDA Chairmen across Ikorodu Local Government to celebrate the Ikorodu CDCs and CDAs annual Party in unity and harmony for peaceful coexistence and accountability purposes.

The Lagos State Government Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ikorodu Local Government is responsible for improving the area and its residents through various functions, including:
- Preparing the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP)The CDC prepares and adopts the community elements of the LECP, and then implements and monitors the plan’s execution.
- Coordinating programsThe CDC coordinates and oversees the implementation of programs approved by the local authority or by agreement with other public bodies.
- Optimizing resourcesThe CDC ensures that resources are used efficiently and effectively and that there is no duplication between local and community development programs.
The CDC also engages with stakeholders to enhance the impact of its assistance programs and foster a sense of unity within the community.
During the 2024 secretary’s report delivered by the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC), Alhaji Lukman Sonibare, highlighted the significant strides in promoting community engagement, social welfare, and economic development throughout the year. Specified the key challenges faced by the CDC Secretariat which are as follows below:
- Community Development Initiative: The meeting held throughout the year 2024 without. “CDC Meeting, Interactive Section, Capacity Building, Strategic Planning”.
- Challenges:- Out of a total of 200 plus CDAs, less than 100 are financially active and paying their dues as at and when due. “Resource Constraints, Community Participation, Further Initiatives, the Commitment of the CDCA.
In an audit report on the financial statement for the period December 11th, 2023 to December 10th, 2024 proffered by the CDC Audit Committee and delivered by Solomade Estate CDA Chairman emphasised Management responsibilities for the financial statements, Financial statement in accordance with the constitutional well as financial reporting standards to avoid errors or fraudulent acts.
The audit committee attested that the audit evidence that they have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for the audit opinion while the community development chairmen and their executive members verbally acknowledged.
