On this solemn occasion of Armed Forces Remembrance Day, we convene to recognize and honour the exceptional courage, dedication, and sacrifices of our esteemed Armed Forces.
Their steadfast commitment to defending our nation serves as a source of inspiration and unity for the people of Nigeria. The Armed Forces have demonstrated remarkable success in addressing critical security challenges, including the fight against insurgency, banditry, oil theft, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality.
These accomplishments reflect their resilience and determination to maintain national security. Additionally, the ability of our military to address emerging threats, such as cyber security risks, underscores their adaptability and professionalism in safeguarding our nation in an increasingly complex global landscape.
In acknowledgement of these accomplishments, Rep. Benson initiated a motion during the plenary for the House to commemorate Armed Forces Remembrance Day and to commend the Nigerian military for their commendable efforts.
Their vigilance in defending our territorial integrity and protecting lives and property instils confidence and pride within the citizenry. Furthermore, we take this opportunity to honour the memory of our fallen heroes, whose selfless sacrifices constitute the foundation of the peace and stability we endeavour to achieve.
Their legacy serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of our freedom and the collective responsibility we bear to ensure that their sacrifices are forever remembered.
On behalf of the House Committee on Defence, Rep. Benson extends his sincere gratitude to all serving and retired members of the Armed Forces and reaffirms our commitment to supporting their welfare and operational capabilities. Your dedication to duty and selfless service illuminate the pathway toward a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.
May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in eternal peace, and may divine blessings continue to be bestowed upon the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Rep. Babajimi Benson Chairman, House Committee on Defence.
