Giving back to the community is an act of selfless responsibility, love, and concern for its vulnerable members. Honorable Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives and Chairman of the Committee on Defence, distributed over 700 Mercy bags, labeled as APO-ANU food packs, to underprivileged individuals across the Ikorodu division today, August 23, 2025. This initiative was carried out through the iCare Foundation, coordinated by the Director General, Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola—popularly known as Dean “The Brain-Box,” an Executive Assistant at the Lagos State Parking Authority to His Excellency Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. The distribution took place at Representative Benson’s Constituency Office, located at Plot 48, Ebute-Igbo Road, off Sholebo Gate, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

iCare Food Bank was officially established on October 16, 2016, to commemorate World Food Day. The food bank is an initiative of the iCare Foundation, launched by Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson and his wife, Olori Adejumoke Benson, with the mission of ending hunger in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency through ongoing monthly efforts.

The beneficiaries were randomly selected across the division through an online registration form, which allowed anyone to nominate a vulnerable person in their neighborhood or community, or to register themselves, without bias or discrimination.

In an interview, the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Area, Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, who was ably represented the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, Hon. Prince Abdullateef Adedayo Ladega, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Almighty God for providing Ikorodu division with an excellent representative in the Federal House of Representatives. He praised Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, for his productive efforts in giving back to his community and urged the citizens and residents of Ikorodu division to remain steadfast in their support for him to ensure more dividends of democracy.

In an interview, the Council Chairman of Ikorodu-North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, urged the beneficiaries to share the palliatives they received today with those who have not yet received any. He also encouraged everyone to participate in the ongoing INEC registration to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) ahead of the 2027 general election, so they can vote for him when the need arises. Additionally, he asked them to remember him in their prayers.

Taking the aforementioned actions will demonstrate appreciation and support for Rep. Benson by voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and personally casting a vote for him in the 2027 general elections, said Hon. Ameen Olawale Apanishile, Council Chairman of Ikorodu-North LCDA.

In an interview, the Vice Chairman of Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Ade Ayeni, stated that APO-ANU has become a legacy and humanitarian project for Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, who has been his mentor, a leader, and the pioneer of positive growth in the Ikorodu division. Over the years, APO-ANU has had a significant impact on the Ikorodu division as a whole and beyond, benefiting market women and men, CDC, CDA, religious leaders, traditional leaders, the less privileged, widows, elderly people, ruling party members, and many others. As the first food bag initiative in Africa, it demonstrates the compassionate and humanitarian nature of Hon. Benson. The iCare Food Bank, coordinated by the Director General, Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola, has been efficiently managed without conflict. “You don’t have to know anybody to receive the benefit,” which is why it covers a wide area through a modern online portal for nomination and registration. Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson is a symbol of renewed hope in the Ikorodu division, he added.

Additionally, Deacon Kehinde from Offin-Oreta urged the beneficiaries to support Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson with their prayers and to cultivate the habits of a good ambassador, expressing hope that Rep. Benson will soon become the next Governor of Lagos State.
