Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Rural Development, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and fairness in rural communities as he addressed the ongoing bulk metering dispute in the Ito Community on Friday, October 24th, 2025.

In a recent meeting with members of the Ito Community Development Association (CDA), convened under the direction of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Agbaje sought to address the pressing issues related to a bulk metering machine recently installed on the community transformer, a development that had caused tension among residents.

“I was instructed by the Deputy Governor to engage with the leadership of the Ito Community to examine the situation regarding the bulk metering machine on their transformer,” Dr. Agbaje explained.

He emphasised the importance of peaceful advocacy in resolving community challenges and assured residents that the state government is committed to finding a lasting solution.

Dr. Agbaje also stated that his office will continue to mediate among relevant stakeholders, including electricity distribution authorities and community leaders, to ensure fairness and transparency.

“I have promised to personally visit the Ito community to assess the situation and ensure that the problem is resolved in a way that benefits everyone,” he said.

“The Sanwo-Olu administration remains committed to fostering harmony and enhancing the quality of life in all rural areas,” he added.

The meeting was described as constructive, with both government representatives and community members expressing optimism that the intervention would resolve the prolonged dispute. This underscores Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s proactive approach to addressing infrastructural and utility challenges in rural communities throughout the state.
