Honourable Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, a distinguished member of the House of Representatives for the 8th, 9th, and 10th National Assemblies, representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigerian Armed Forces Committee on Defence, has the honour of joining the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the decoration ceremony of the newly appointed and confirmed Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 🇳🇬🎖️.
The ceremony, which was held at the Council Chambers, had in attendance the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; Senate Majority Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; Chairman, Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adeola; and Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Ahmad Lawan. Also present were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Chief of Staff to the President, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, ministers, governors, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
According to Rep. Benson’s Instagram social media handle, stated that it was a deeply gratifying moment for him, as Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, having also led the Joint Committee of the House that screened these distinguished officers.
“I am confident that this new crop of military leaders will build on the remarkable achievements of their predecessors and drive the vision of a safer, stronger and more secure Nigeria,” he said.
This ceremony not only marks a new chapter in their Armed Forces but also reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the Tinubu administration to end insecurity and deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda.
