In furtherance of his administration’s commitment to purposeful governance and strategic planning, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Honourable Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju FCA FCTI has led Councillors and senior management staff of the Council to a 3-day 2026 Budget Retreat tagged “Budget of Legacy.”
The retreat held between Friday, 7th and Sunday, 9th November 2025, took place at AM2PM Hotels, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, and brought together legislators, heads of departments and key administrative officers to deliberate on fiscal strategies and policy directions for the 2026 financial year.
Declaring the retreat open, Honourable SKO reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to consolidate on its developmental achievements and deliver projects that will make lasting impact on the lives of residents.
“Our 2026 budget is not just another financial document; it is a vision-driven framework designed to sustain growth, enhance service delivery and create enduring legacies for the good people of Ikorodu West,” he stated.
“We are determined to build upon the foundations we have laid and ensure that every naira allocated reflects our commitment to transparency, efficiency and accountability.”
The retreat featured capacity building sessions anchored by financial experts and planning consultants, who guided participants through key aspects of participatory budgeting, resource allocation and performance monitoring. Heads of departments also made presentations on their proposed estimates and work plans for the year, aligning with the Council’s overarching development agenda.
The Council Manager, Mr Nurudeen Tobun in his welcome address applauded the Chairman’s focus on capacity building and strategic governance.
The retreat was not all work; participants also enjoyed moments of relaxation and team bonding, fostering a stronger sense of unity and collaboration among staff.
In his closing remarks, Hon. SKO expressed gratitude to all attendees for their dedication and contributions toward making the retreat a success. He assured that every input gathered during the sessions would be integrated into the final draft of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, which will soon be presented to the Legislative Council for consideration and approval.
“The ‘Budget of Legacy’ is our pledge to the people — a roadmap that reflects their needs and aspirations. Together, we will make history by leaving behind a council that is more functional, responsive, and progressive,” he concluded.
The event was rounded off with a resolve to deliver more dividends of democracy to the good people of Ikorodu West LCDA.
