Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Mhr, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence and Member of the Federal House of Representatives, in partnership with His Excellency Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, recently launched the “Construction of Trauma Building Centre in Ikorodu General Hospital” and officially inaugurated the Lambo Lasunwon road, opposite Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) under Ikorodu-North LCDA, Lagos State, Nigeria on Monday, October 7th, 2024.
The presence of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson and the Deputy Governor of Lagos State demonstrates a proactive response to the needs of the people of Ikorodu Division following the 2023 elections.
Dr. Prince Taiwo Hassan, the Medical Director of Ikorodu General Hospital, highlighted the hospital’s growth from its establishment in 1983 as a cottage hospital to now housing 32 departments and accommodating over 90,000 patients monthly.
The urgent need for a trauma building centre was emphasized, with over 16,000 out of 23,000 patients seeking treatment for trauma-related issues. The construction of the trauma centre is anticipated to significantly reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with trauma.
Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson expressed gratitude for the contributions of various individuals and stressed the importance of effective representation. Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, in his address, emphasized the commitment of the Lagos State government to ongoing and future developmental projects despite prevailing economic challenges.
He encouraged the electorate to elect representatives with a track record of progress and pledged continued support for the betterment of the region.
The event also marked the commissioning of the Lambo Lasunwon road, a critical infrastructure development that will unquestionably enhance the lives of the community. The dedication and collaboration demonstrated during this event reflect a commitment to progress and the well-being of the citizens of Ikorodu and Lagos State.
In an interview with the Baale of Orija Okegbegun- Lambo Lasunwon Community, Chief Adeowo Olayiwola Idris expressed appreciation for the swift response to the construction of Lambo Lasunwon road by Rep. Jimi Benson, stating that it has significantly contributed to the development of their community. The Baale thanked Hon. Jimi Benson on behalf of the community stakeholders and residents, expressing great appreciation for his efforts.
Additionally, in the Orija Okegbegun- Lambo Lasunwon Community, there is overwhelming support for all APC candidates due to the impactful representation of Hon. Jimi Benson. The community expressed confidence that his efforts will lead to increased voter turnout in the upcoming local government and presidential and gubernatorial elections in 2025 and 2027, respectively.
