In alignment with a recent ceremony at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Party Secretariat, the APC Ikorodu Local Government Area (LGA) Party Secretariat, under the leadership of Hon. Waheed Oladimeji Animashaun, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Alhaji R.I. Jinadu and Secretary Mr. Kehinde Ayanbadejo JP, has officially inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee to spearhead its campaign initiatives.
This initiative aims to secure victory in the upcoming Local Government Election scheduled for July 12, 2025.

The event was graced by the presence of the Ikorodu Divisional APEX Leader, Prince (Sir) Abiodun Ogunleye, who was ably represented by Chief Kaoli Olatunji Olusanya, Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom and former Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State, along with other distinguished dignitaries.

Flags were presented to the APC Party Flag-Bearer, Hon. Prince Adebayo Ladega, and his Vice, Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba.

Additionally, flags were also handed to the seven geopolitical Ward Councillors: Hon. Idris Shokunbi, Councillor for Ward A; Hon. Mutiat Fatuga, Councillor for Ward B; Hon. Murisiku Shafari, Councillor for Ward C; Hon. Wasiu Shotomiwa, Councillor for Ward D; Hon. Lateefat Egbetokun, Councillor for Ward E; Hon. Oluwakemi Braimoh, Councillor for Ward F; and Hon. Dimeji Oshikoya, Councillor for Ward G.

The ceremony took place on June 18, 2025, at the APC LGA Party Secretariat located at No. 27, Awolowo Way, Oke Ota-Ona, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

The inauguration event commenced with a welcome address delivered by the APC LGA Party Chairman, Honorable Waheed Oladimeji Animashaun. In his address, he introduced the Party’s flag bearers, comprising the Chairman, Honorable Adebayo Ladega, and his Vice, Honorable Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, as well as the seven Ward Councillors. He also acknowledged the presence of the Ikorodu Divisional Apex leader, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, who exemplifies exceptional leadership and commitment, represented by Chief Kaoli Olatunji Olusanya, Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom and former Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State.

The primary focus of the gathering was to inaugurate the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the party’s campaign, with the mandate of ensuring a substantial voter turnout for both the chairmanship and councillorship candidates of the ruling party in the forthcoming election. Honorable Animashaun remarked, “Following a series of reconciliation efforts aimed at unifying all members of the ruling party, there is now a resolute determination to secure victory in the election scheduled for July 12, 2025.”

In his address, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government urged Party Members and LOC members to intensify their efforts for the progress of Ikorodu. He called for unity in supporting the APC Candidates to achieve a favorable outcome in the local government election on July 12. He emphasized the importance of maximizing voter participation, citing the significant accomplishments of the sitting government in Ikorodu. The Chairman highlighted various infrastructural developments undertaken during his administration, including projects such as Itun-Nla, Itaelewa, Itundegun, Itunmoja, Sanni Arowolo, and Oteyonbo Streets, and assured attendees of the completion of Africa Bethel Primary School. He reiterated that the current administration has made significant contributions that warrant the support of the electorate for the APC.

As the campaign progresses, Adesina expressed confidence that the LOC would showcase numerous completed projects. He extended his gratitude to all aspirants for their maturity and cooperation in collectively supporting the Party Candidates, including both the Chairman and Vice Chairman, as well as the Councillors within the Ikorodu LGA jurisdiction. “This marks an unprecedented occasion,” he stated.

The inauguration of the Ikorodu LGA Organising Committee was conducted on behalf of the Ikorodu Divisional Apex Leader, Prince (Sir) Abiodun Ogunleye, who was adequately represented by Chief Kaoli Olatunji Olusanya. He commended the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Honorable Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, for his commendable efforts toward infrastructural development across the seven wards of the Ikorodu LGA.

Additionally, appreciation was extended to the two legislative representatives of Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Honorable Babajimi Adegoke Benson and

Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, for their impactful contributions toward infrastructure development and digital literacy empowerment, respectively, in the Lagos East Senatorial District.

The Chairman of the LOC, Alhaji R. I. Jinodu, expressed gratitude for the honor of being appointed LOC Party Chairman. He noted that campaigning is a collective undertaking, emphasizing that both ordinary Party members and committee members must contribute to achieving significant results.

Despite the committee members being recognized as technocrats, Alhaji Jinadu underscored the importance of demonstrating their expertise. “When assigned a task, one should be prepared to showcase their capabilities,” he stated, reiterating the goal of achieving the highest possible voter turnout across the state in the upcoming election. He urged the Campaign Committees to initiate the inauguration of members.

Fifteen distinct LOC groups were inaugurated, each headed by a designated chairman to oversee respective committees, including those focused on media, security, finance, mobilization and so on.

In an interview, Alhaji R. I. Jinodu, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), indicated that the forthcoming election is likely to be won based on the established structure of the ruling party in Lagos State. He expressed confidence in the viability of the Chairmanship Candidate and Vice-Chair, Hon. Prince Adedayo Ladega and Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, respectively, alongside the seven Ward Councillorship candidates who are expected to perform exceptionally well.

He urged grassroots members, citizens, and the residents of Ikorodu to prepare for the upcoming election scheduled for July 12, emphasizing the importance of participation without intimidation. “Go out and vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which we consider the most viable political party at present,” he stated.

Also in an interview, Hon. Shittle Abdulkareem Olugbenga, a member of the LOC’s Finance Committee and a former PDP aspirant, who contested for the Ikorodu Federal Representative position in 2023, affirmed that the party is committed to presenting a well-organized platform. He encouraged the citizens of the Ikorodu division to anticipate well-coordinated candidates. Furthermore, he commended the APC Local Government Area Party Chairman, Hon. Waheed Oladimeji Animashaun, and the Secretary, Mr. Kehinde Ayanbadejo, for initiating commendable programs aimed at enhancing the party’s outreach and engagement efforts.

The event attracted numerous dignitaries in attendance, including Apex Leaders in their eighties, Oloye Oye Solebo and Baba Badru Enifeni; former Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, Alhaji Junaid Owokodu; Honorable Junaid Agunbiade, former Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Ikorodu-West APC Party Chairman, Otunba Adebayo Lawson, Hon Gbolahan Ogunleye Member Lagos State House of Assembly Ikorodu Constituency 1, Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje among notable leaders of the Ruling Party.
