Celebrating cultural heritage is pivotal in strengthening community ties and facilitating the transmission of values and meanings across generations. In this regard, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barrister) Semiudeen Kasali Orimadegun, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Emugoriade I, in synergy with the planning committee for the 37th Igbogbo Day Celebration, chaired by Alhaji Sheriff Jinodu, under the parental body of “Igbogbo Development Association (IDA)”, ably represented by Alhaji Lateef Oduntan, the General Secretary, and his assistant, Mr. Babatunde Afuwape, as well as the High Chiefs, Arelus, Iya Olode, Iya Oloja general of Igbogbo-baiyeku and Baales has convened a press conference to announce the events for the 2025 Igbogbo Day Celebration, unveil their Ankara fabric intended for patronage and analyse their programme schedules on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Adeboruwa’s Palace, Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA, Lagos State, Nigeria.

The planning committee organised the press conference and was effectively coordinated by Mr. Adeyemi Oshodi, Public Relations Officer of the Igbogbo Day Celebration, who announced that the Ankara fabric would be available for purchase at the price of six thousand naira only, following the presentation of the scheduled programs.

During the program lineup address delivered by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Alhaji Sheriff Jinodu, it was outlined that the official schedule would commence on Thursday, November 20, 2025, with the Iwure and Adeboruwa Jamz event at the Adeboruwa’s Palace, commencing at 7:00 a.m. and concluding at 4:00 p.m. This will be followed by the Jumat Service on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Igbogbo Central Mosque at 1:00 p.m. Following the Jumat Service, events will include Public Service Day, Barber’s Day facilitated by the Rotary Club, and a visitation to an orphanage home at the Vocational Centre in Igbogbo at 4:00 p.m.
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, a Carnival is scheduled at Eleja Primary School, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, November 23, 2025, a luncheon with the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom will be hosted, along with the Presentation of Awards of Excellence, the Induction of Igbogbo Ambassadors “Season 3,” and an Elders’ Day event at the Mikkson Onas Event Centre, Igbogbo, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Additionally, on Monday, November 24, 2025, Health Awareness Day, the final stage of the Adeboruwa Football Competition, and an NGO giveaway will occur at the Adeboruwa Palace from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Cultural Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 2025, featuring cultural dance performances by the Pa Dankwo cultural group, Alapete, ASA, Turuku, and Igunuko at the Adeboruwa Palace from 9:00 a.m. until further notice.
On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, the final day of educational programs will include a quiz competition, a debate competition, and the conclusion of the Adeboruwa Basketball Competition at Igbogbo/Bayeku Hall and Andus D’Great Schools, Igbogbo, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Thursday, November 27, 2025, the Olota Community Day, Community Development initiative, and Artisan & Transporters’ Day will take place, followed by a youth gala night at Eleja Primary School from 12:00 p.m.
On Friday, November 28, 2025, a career guidance and counselling session will be held with two topics: “The Intersection of Firm and Personal Identity,” by Guest Speaker Funke Akindele, and “Exploring Career Paths: Aligning Interests, Skills, and Opportunities,” addressed by Speaker Coach Wale.
The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Z.I.G.S. Igbogbo, Lagos State, Nigeria, and the 2025 Igbogbo Day Celebration will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the C.A.C. Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbogbo, Lagos State, Nigeria, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Alhaji Sheriff Jinodu announced that the brochure for the Igbogbo Day celebration program will be available one week before the event on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The event will host notable dignitaries, including Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe. A sponsor for the raffle draw has also been confirmed.

Mr. Toheeb Sanni, the Secretary of the celebration committee, highlighted the theme “The Shining Glory,” which focuses on educational advancement through the establishment of an ICT center.

General Secretary Alhaji Lateef Oduntan commended the committee for their efforts in organizing the event.

High Chief Jelili Sanni represented His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulsemiudeen Kasali Orimadegun, and emphasized the importance of the slogan “Shining Glory! Itona Ogo!”

In response to the questions asked by the Press members, the Council leader of Igbogbo-bayeku LCDA, Hon. Basirat Adetutu Banjoko discussed sustainable development initiatives, urging collaboration with state and federal governments to enhance local infrastructure.

Alhaja Ashake Wahab, the Iya’Oloja General of Igbogbo-bayeku LCDA praised the cultural significance of the Ankara fabric uniform adopted by market participants.

The event also featured the unveiling of the 37th edition of the Ankara fabric, priced at N6,000, which received royal blessings.
