Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) in conjunction with “Eye Foundation Hospital” has commenced free eye screening and free Eye tests, glasses and Cataract Surgery removal on Wednesday, August 7th, 2024 at Ikorodu Ultra-modern town hall, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria to assist the vulnerable in the community.

The IKODASS Chairman, Mr Erogbogbo Rotimi, facilitated this initiative in 2021 to relieve Ikorodu’s vulnerable community members who have eye challenges through an annual sustainable programme.  

In an interview with Dr. Kunle Hassan, Chief Medical Director of Eye Foundation Hospital duly represented by Ikorodu branch manager, Mr. Lasisi Wasiu, said; the essence of this partnership was to give back to the community for the effective healthy growth of vulnerable living therein.

Says, the cost of Eye cataract removal surgery is worth Two hundred and Fifty nairas (N250,000) in their hospital. “Having this opportunity should be a great privilege to the beneficiaries”, he said.

In an interview with some of the beneficiaries, Mr Taiwo Odunsi, a real estate consultant from Igbogbo-bayeiku lcda commended the effort of the facilitator, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo for creating such an avenue of free eye treatment for those who are financially challenged, and also appreciates the attendees for their propelling medical advice after offered an individual eyeglasses.   

Also in an interview with Mrs. Abegunde Chinyere, a nurse from Gberigbe, she said; the checkup process was impressive and impactful, she confirmed this after free eyeglasses were given.

Over Four Hundred and Twenty screenings were registered yesterday, August 7th, 2024 and One Hundred and Twenty people were accountable for today, Thursday, August 8th, 2024.

Refreshments thereafter were made available for all participants.
