On Friday, November 8, 2024, the Ikorodu Local Government hosted a visit from the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and the Lagos East Senatorial Leaders for the purpose of conducting a project inspection. This event was held at O’clean Event Place within the Ikorodu LGA Secretariat, Lagos State, Nigeria. The inspection aimed to evaluate the various projects executed by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, since the inception of his administration in 2017.

The inspection was led by former Senator Musiliu Babatunde Obanikoro, who served as the Senator for Lagos Central from 2003 to 2007 and briefly held the position of Minister of State for Defence in 2014. He was accompanied by esteemed colleagues, including Alhaji Fariu Akogun, Hon. Moshood Mayegun, Hon. Samuel Ologijo, and Balogun Aleshiloye Wahab.

In his address, Hon. Adesina expressed his sincere appreciation to the GAC leaders, particularly Senator Obanikoro, for their visit to Ikorodu LGA. He emphasized the notable achievements of his administration over the past three years, highlighting the completion of more than thirty-five infrastructural projects across the six geopolitical wards of Ikorodu LGA. He attributed these successes to the collaborative efforts within the Legislative Arm, led by Hon. Adebowale Adebola, the Councillor representing Ward E (Aga/Ijomu).

The administration has demonstrated significant success over the past three years, achieving several important developments. Specifically, there have been over thirty-five infrastructural road projects completed. Additionally, the Local Government has undergone renovations featuring Gerrad roofing, along with the establishment of a Cooperative Building within the area. The administration has also implemented initiatives such as Youth ICT Empowerment and the provision of complimentary GCE examination forms for secondary school students across various wards. These efforts have been executed throughout the six geopolitical wards of Ikorodu Local Government Area, all under the legislative leadership of Hon. Adebowale Adebola, the Councillor for Ward E (Aga/Ijomu).

Hon. Adesina commended the GAC members for their engagement and support, indicating that their presence demonstrates a commitment to the local government’s development. In his remarks, Senator Obanikoro lauded the Executive Chairman for his exemplary performance and representation of the ruling party. He requested feedback from five selected community stakeholders regarding the Executive Chairman’s administration. The stakeholders included the Chairperson of the Community Development Committee (CDC), a representative from the Youth Council, Busiq Isikalu, the Iya-Oloja General of Ikorodu Division, as well as representatives from the Chief and Ndigbo communities.

Senator Obanikoro commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina for a wonderful job well done and for being a good representation of the ruling Party of Nigeria. Without being partisan, requested Five (5) community stakeholders across the geopolitical wards for their feedback about the Executive Chairman.

These Five (5) people were selected randomly which are as follows below:

“1. CDC Chairman; 2. Youth Council, 3. Iya-Oloja5 General of Ikorodu Division, Busiq Isikalu, 4. Chief and 5. Ndigbo”.

The purpose of this visit was to assess the ongoing initiatives and development projects within the Ikorodu Local Government and its associated Local Council Development Areas in Lagos East.

In conclusion, Senator Obanikoro extended his gratitude to all participants and proceeded to conduct an indoor meeting with the leaders of the ruling political party at the ward level.
