The 33rd Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKOADASS), under the chairmanship of Engr. Rotimi Erogbogbo, the Media Publicity and its Welfarism has anchored the 2024 traditional rally (Woro) and celebration with a series of groups associated on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 started the rally from the IKODASS office in Ikorodu Ultra-modern Town Hall through the central jurisdiction to promote the cultural heritages, Commerce, and industry including Ikorodu identities within and the diaspora. visited the Ayangbure palace for royal blessings with the motive of a unified spirit of oneness.

Among the notable participants is Comrade Olatunji Maccarthy, a candidate for councillorship in Ward C (A2), who received recognition from His Royal Majesty, HRM Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, for his active involvement in the rally. In a recent interview, Maccarthy articulated that his aspiration for the councillorship position is driven by a profound sense of responsibility and a desire to contribute constructively to his community.

Maccarthy stated, “I am motivated by a sense of responsibility, feeling obligated to contribute to the well-being of my community, driven by a passion for public service and a commitment to effecting positive changes in people’s lives.” As an engaged youth in his ward, Maccarthy has initiated a âBack to School Projectâ that provides complimentary JAMB forms to academically gifted yet economically disadvantaged students, along with organizing tutorial sessions to facilitate their exam preparation. Additionally, he has orchestrated a football competition to promote unity and social inclusiveness among local youths.
When queried regarding his plans if elected as councillor, Maccarthy emphasized the concept of continuity in governance. He intends to build upon the initiatives of his predecessor, ensuring that the objectives outlined in his manifesto are diligently pursued. Maccarthy further asserts that he will prioritize transparency, accountability, and community engagement in his service.

As a dedicated youth in the ward with a strong commitment to serving the people and a vision for progress, weâve carried out a âBack to School Projectâ where we gave out free jamb forms to brilliant but indigent students, and we organized tutorials to further help me prepare for the exams.
In response to questions regarding why residents of Ikorodu should support his aspiration, Maccarthy remarked, “I possess the capabilities necessary to create positive impacts within the community.” He underscored education as his foremost priority, recognizing it as the most valuable legacy one can provide, and aims to enhance access to high-quality education, in addition to focusing on empowerment and technical skills development for residents.

Regarding the notion of autonomy, Maccarthy indicated that it would facilitate more efficient resource allocation and address pressing issues such as education, sports, and empowerment programs. He stated, “Our ward will ultimately receive the attention it merits, allowing us to design programs that cater to our distinct needs.”
Maccarthy conveyed a message to the community, asserting, “Politics should not be viewed as a do-or-die affair. Together, we can construct a more just, equitable, and vibrant society. Let us rise to the challenge and create a brighter future for all.”
To fellow local government aspirants, Maccarthy advised, “Effective leadership is not predicated upon personal gain, but rather upon the service of others. Remain committed, resilient, and true to your purpose.”
