Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, during his goodwill address, commended Honourable Benson for his effective representation, highlighting that both the ruling party and the constituents of Ikorodu take great pride in his accomplishments. He concluded his remarks with a social song, exemplifying the spirit of camaraderie.

Asiwaju Chief Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, both esteemed members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), lauded Representative Benson for his initiatives aimed at advancing the development of Ikorodu. They urged the public to proactively prepare for the upcoming 2025 elections by registering for their National Identification Number (NIN), which is requisite for obtaining the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) necessary for exercising voting rights. They pledged to monitor the registration process throughout Ikorodu, with Asiwaju Chief Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun emphasizing the need for increased voter turnout.

During his address, Honourable Benson expressed gratitude to the constituents of the Ikorodu Division for their substantial support, as evidenced by the significant voter turnout in previous elections. He advocated for continued participation in forthcoming elections to ensure the sustained benefits of democratic governance, noting, “I experience greater happiness in your presence compared to Abuja,” while acknowledging the exceptional leadership within Ikorodu, which includes Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Chief Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, and Otunba Tijani Olasukanmi, among others.

Honourable Benson asserted, “Having 382 polling units across Ikorodu Division and achieving the highest votes in Lagos State during the recent election exemplifies our competence. Nothing should hinder Ikorodu from attaining 250,000 votes in the upcoming election.” He encouraged citizens to remain engaged.

He further advised political grassroots members and aspirants to await the guidelines issued by the ruling party (APC) to ensure alignment with public expectations. He cautioned against disparaging political leaders, questioning, “How do you expect them to lead us to the promised land?”

Honourable Benson also requested that political members consistently pray for elite leaders, seeking wisdom, knowledge, good health, and understanding, as well as for his welfare. He expressed a desire for those attempting to tarnish his reputation to be silenced.

He embraced the initiatives of Lagos State concerning the purple line and informed citizens regarding the delays in certain road construction projects in Ikorodu, attributing them to other infrastructural commitments that must be addressed sequentially.

Furthermore, he addressed the issue of reduced compensation for residents of Ishawo and Igbogbo-Baiyeku, assuring that all constituents would benefit from the dividends of democracy starting in the second quarter of 2025, acknowledging the current depreciation of the dollar. “Tax reform is a pathway to restructuring Nigeria,” stated Honourable Benson.

His Royal Majesty, Oba David Raji Balogun, the Eweye of Isiu, expressed appreciation for Honourable Benson’s proactive and steadfast approach towards the Ikorodu division development in his speech.
