On Tuesday, the Ikorodu and Ibeju Lekki General Hospitals, along with the Abule Eko Primary Health Centre in Ijede, received ambulances and medical consumables sponsored by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute-Metta, attended by representatives of Senator Abiru, including his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr. (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle. Present at the event were several notable healthcare officials, including Dr. Adedamola Dada, the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre; Dr. Ime Okon, the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ibeju-Lekki General Hospital; Dr. Kareem Lookman, Director of Clinical Services and Training at Ikorodu General Hospital; Dr. Kehinde Osinaike; and Patricia Ajani, the Chief Nursing Officer at Abule Eko Primary Health Centre.

During their remarks, representatives from the hospitals expressed their gratitude to Senator Tokunbo Abiru for his exemplary representation and significant contributions to various sectors, particularly the public health sector within the Senatorial District.

Before this initiative, Senator Abiru had already facilitated the rehabilitation and equipping of primary health care centres at Igbo-Olomu and Ori-Okuta, in the Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA). Additionally, he advanced the establishment of a 40-bed hospital and dental clinic at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), which is set to be commissioned shortly. Other initiatives include a 40-bed hospital at the Mascara Health Centre and a 40-bed facility at Isiu in the Ikorodu North LCDA, among numerous other projects.

Other members of Senator Abiru’s team present at the event included Hon. (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola, Alhaja Sherifat Abiodun Ogunniyi, Mr. Enitan Olukotun, Media Aide to Senator Abiru, Ms. Comfort Olafare, Legislative Assistant, Mr. Abiodun Isikalu, and Mr Tola Togunde.
