The Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global (IHG) has officially launched its association at the Ayangburen Palace during the celebration of the 2025 Odun Osu (Odun Oba) on Saturday, April 12, 2025. 

This event served to celebrate Odun Osu with His Royal Majesty, HRM Oba Dr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Adegorunshen V and the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom as well as to officially express the organization’s vision and mission to the committed citizens of the Ikorodu heritage.

The Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global’s statement was announced and presented in the English language by the spokesman of the day, Alhaji Sikiru Enifeni, and translated into Yoruba dialect by Chief Akeem Ogbara. 

The occasion was graced by several distinguished dignitaries and global business tycoons, who gathered to witness and celebrate the 2025 Odun Osu with His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Adegunrunshen V and the paramount ruler of the Ikorodu Division.

In his presentation, Alhaji Sikiru Enifeni emphasized that the Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global (IHG) is committed to promoting Ikorodu as a global tourism destination. 

Speaking, Alhaji Sikiru Enifeni highlighted Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global’s mission to work together with the paramount ruler of Ikorodu Kingdom, Oba Shotobi and Her Royal Majesty, Olori Abosede Kudirat Shotobi, in enhancing the developmental objectives aimed at fostering global tourism through peaceful coexistence.

Furthermore, he noted that Ikorodu is recognized as a hub of elite and socially influential individuals worldwide, which is why IHG is dedicated to making a positive contribution to their cherished community.

During the welcome address delivered by High Chief Adewunmi Adedeji Ogunsanya, SAN, the Odofin Erujeje of Ikorodu Kingdom and the Baba Oba of the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, he commended the Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global for their impressive mobilization efforts, which have successfully engaged a large number of individuals within a remarkably short period of three months. He assured the association that His Royal Majesty would extend the necessary support as required in due course.

and the traditional rulers have welcomed you all and appreciate Ikorodu Oga Heritage Global’s personalities for the brilliant initiative”, he said. 

In a welcome address remark made by Otunba Ayodele Elesho, the former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State and the Agba Akin of Ikorodu expressed on behalf of the His Royal Majesty, Oba Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom and the Treasure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Olori Abosede Shotobi including the entire High Chiefs, Chiefs and the indigenes of Ikorodu has gladly welcome “Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global organization to the 2025 Odun Osu programme.

Otunba Elesho expressed that the significant programme of the day was first to celebrate the 2025 Odun Osu and second to welcome the Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global. 

Said, Odun Osu festival comes first every year, following the Yoruba tradition and cultural guidelines. Back in the day, the Odun Osu festive process used to be Three (3) months of no Party celebration, no drumming and no music.

But, due to the modern era of exposure, the council of Obas in the Ikorodu division and the traditional rulers have considered the importance of some necessary celebrations i.e naming ceremonies and so on to make the Odun Osu festive process Nine (9) days before the grand finale celebrates Odun Osu which is what we are celebrating today. He said. 

Otunba Elesho thereby commended the Ikorodu Oga Heritage Global (IHG) for their effective involvement and participation in the 2025 Odun Osu Festival.

During a public address speech made by the Chairman of Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (KODASS), Rt. Rotimi Erogbogbo, said, “You are a guest to His Royal Majesty, Oba Shotobi today, tomorrow you might be a guest to our programme”.

This statement was highlighted to seek synergy. You can run your programme the way you want it, Yes! But when comes to Ikorodu-Oga day; “If you are not involved with us, it will be difficult to follow us and make arrangements”. Do not allow anyone to hijack you from Kabiyesi. “Let’s rob minds together to decide on how we want to do it”. Rt. Rotimi Erogbogbo pronounced. 

“There is a right to peaceful Association slash Assembly according to the 1999 Fundamental Human Rights of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but there is also a traditional constitution to work with”. IKODASS Chairman, Rt. Rotimi Erogbogbo emphasised.

Chief Olufemi Onafowokan, The Aro of Ikorodu commend the Ikorodu Man and Rep. of the Year, Ikorodu Federal Constituency’s Representative, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR for being a good representative through his numerous impact he has established in the Ikorodu division and also welcomes the Ikorodu Oga Heritage Global (IHG).

Ikorodu Oga Heritage Global thereby gladly welcome Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, HMR, Chairman of the Defence Committee to their midst in a friendly joyful mood. 

His Royal Majesty, HRM Oba Dr Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Paramount Ruler of Ikorodu Division in his remark appreciated the Ikorodu-Oga Heritage Global (IHG) for gracing the 2025 Odun Osu festival with him and the Treasure of Ikorodu Kingdom, Her Royal Majesty, Olori Abosede Shotobi as well as the entire High Chiefs, Chiefs, Erelus, the traditional rulers and Indigenous good people of Ikorodu.

Kabiyesi gladly mentioned that he would love to see the presence of Ikorodu Oga Heritage Global in his coming Ten (10) years anniversary event coming up in August 2025 in collaboration with IKODASS.

As a non-governmental organization, Ikorodu Oga Heritage Global (IHG) is focused on elevating Ikorodu through intellectual social activities, bringing together Ikorodu indigenes and global business tycoons to make Ikorodu a global tourist centre as envisaged by the forefathers (Headquarter) in both home and abroad.
