According to tradition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday, after which His body was removed from the cross and interred in a cave tomb.
A number of Christians observe fasting on Good Friday, a symbolic act representing humility and repentance.
Known by various names such as Black Friday, Holy Friday, Great Friday, and Friday of the Passion of the Lord, Good Friday is a solemn holy day that commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and His death at Calvary. It is officially recognized during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum.
